Stephen Penman, MAppSc(Res), GC (Tert Teach Learn)

Stephen is Executive Director of two related organisations; the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, a multidisciplinary society of medical practitioners, allied health practitioners, public health professionals, educators and researchers advancing Lifestyle Medicine; and the Lifestyle Medicine Foundation, a registered health promotion charity in Australia, established to develop, conduct, promote and support initiatives that reduce the incidence and progression of preventable, chronic and lifestyle-related conditions.

He is also a PhD candidate developing and evaluating an online comprehensive lifestyle change intervention and the founder of Open Health, a social enterprise to deliver the lifestyle change program as a health system initiative, in particular to practitioners for use with their patients and direct to the public for both chronic disease self management and health enhancement. Earlier, Stephen completed a Master of Applied Science by Research, and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching and Learning. Previously, Stephen was CEO of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) from 2008 to 2013, an organisation providing representation, advocacy and postgraduate education for doctors in that field.  He is also a past President of Yoga Australia (formerly the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia), and was a member of the steering committee to form Meditation Australia (formerly the Australian Teachers of Meditation Association.
